DOCUMENTATION (0-4 points)
- 0:No documentation
- 1:Any one of the following items: Type of weaving, Country of origin, Time period, Reference, Rational for choice of style
- 2:Any two of the aforementioned points
- 3:Any three of the aforementioned points
- 4:Any four of the points
AUTHENTICITY (0-4 points)1 point for each period element present
- Entry is completely modern and mundane
- Materials and supplies are period or give period effect
- Entry is appropriate to stated time and place
- Style, pattern, design and finished entry seem period
- Period tools and procedures were used as much as possible
COMPLEXITY (1-5 points)Rank the ambition of the entry, not the workmanship, on a scale of 1 to 5 based on the following:
- Scale and choice of pattern (repetition vs. freeform)
- Difficulty of handling of chosen materials (cotton vs. wool)
- Yardage, and evenness therein
- Amount of time invested--research & material preparation
- Width, and evenness therein
WORKMANSHIP (1-5 points) Rank the success of the attempt on a scale of 1 to 5 based on the following:
- Evenness of warp tension
- Evenness of weft tension
- Uniformity of repeat
- Do colors and materials compliment chosen pattern?
- Ability of entry to serve intended function
CREATIVITY (1-6 points)
- 1:A foiled attempt to copy
- 2:Exact copy
- 3:Modified replica
- 4:Drawn from several sources
- 5:Imaginative use of materials
- 6:Inspired, has personality
QUALITY (1-6 points) Evaluate the work as a whole.

WEAVING, BAND/TABLET/INKLE - INTERMEDIATE
DOCUMENTATION (0-4 points) Must have at least 1 page, 2-3 pages preferable. More is acceptable. Give one point for each of the following that is present:
- Identification/Description of the entry plus the approximate date and place/nationality in history that the entry is modeled upon.
- Statement or listing of materials used in entry's construction and use(s) of the entry.
- Describes method(s) used to create entry (may include reasons for why a certain process or material was used).
- Cites at least two references, either illustrative (pictures) or descriptive relating to either A) period use of such item OR B) period method of constructing such item OR C) both A & B.
AUTHENTICITY (0-4 points)Give one point for each element listed below that is present:
- Entry is appropriate to time/place stated in documentation.
- Materials used are period OR give period effect.
- Methods/Procedures used are period OR give period effect.
- Style, pattern, design and finished product are consistent with one another and give period effect.
COMPLEXITY (1-5 points) Rank the ambition of the entry, NOT the workmanship, on a scale of 1-5, based on the following (as applies):
- Complexity of the medium(s) being worked in (difficulties of materials used).
- Overall composition and layout.
- Intricacy of creating an object in the size/scale utilized in the entry. (Remember that all sizes are difficult because in small scale it is difficult to get details and in large scale, any minor flaw shows noticeably.)
- Number and variety of design elements.
- Difficulty and variety of techniques attempted.
- Amount of time involved including research and material preparation.
WORKMANSHIP (1-5 points) Rank the success of the entry, on a scale of 1-5, based on the following:
- Ability of entry to serve intended function.
- Attention to details, neatness and finishing touches.
- Appropriate application of design(s).
- Choice of materials/design combinations.
- Durability of the item.
- Effective use of materials and designs.
- Mastery of period style and technique.
CREATIVITY (1-4 points)Give score based on the following:
- 1:Logical combination of a few copied elements.
- 2:Evidence of original work logical to period context in design or execution.
- 3:Creative interpolation in combination of elements; much innovation logical to period; project is mostly original application of period or SCA Known World designs OR is an exact reproduction of a period item.
- 4:Project is an original application of period or SCA Known World designs (original, innovative combination of period materials, techniques, and designs, as might have been done by a creative period artist). Special consideration such as personalization to an event, individual or idea should be taken into account.
QUALITY (1-8 points) Evaluate the work as a whole
Evaluate the work as a whole. NOTE: This category is subjective; however, the judge should take into account prior category scores, aesthetic appeal, presentation, and other such items not previously addressed.

DOCUMENTATION (0-4 points) Must have at least 3 pages of discussion (NOT including visuals and bibliography). More is acceptable. Give score based on the following:
- 0:No documentation or very inaccurate documentation.
- 1:Minimum information only (Identification/Description of the entry, approximate date in history of entry, place/nationality/origin of the entry).
- 2:Has all info listed for 1 point plus cites at least two references, either illustrative (pictures) or descriptive relating to either A) period use of such item OR B) period method of constructing such item OR C) both A & B.
- 3:Has all the info listed for 2 points plus a listing of materials and tools used in entry's construction.
- 4:Has all the info listed for 3 points plus discussion of method(s) used to create entry with additional discussion of period practice and rationale/explanation/discussion of any variation from period norm and/or original experiments/research.
AUTHENTICITY (0-4 points) Give one point for each element listed below that is present:
- Entry is appropriate to time/place stated in documentation.
- Materials used are period OR give period effect.
- Methods/Procedures used are period OR give period effect.
- Style, pattern, design and finished product are consistent with one another and give period effect.
