- Includes materials/tools list OR states method used to complete entry.
- Cites at least one reference, either illustrative (pictures) or descriptive relating to either A) period use of such item OR B) period method of constructing such item OR C) both A & B.
AUTHENTICITY (0-4 points)Give one point for each element listed below that is present:
- Entry is appropriate to time/place stated in documentation.
- Materials used are period OR give period effect.
- Methods/Procedures used are period OR give period effect.
- Style, pattern, design and finished product are consistent with one another and give period effect.
COMPLEXITY (1-5 points)Rank the ambition of the entry, NOT the workmanship, on a scale of 1-5, based on the following (as applies):
- Scope of endeavor (e.g. number of pieces, amount of detail, special construction for theme)
- Complexity of the medium(s) being worked in (difficulties of materials used).
- Overall composition and layout.
- Intricacy of creating an object in the size/scale utilized in the entry. (Remember that all sizes are difficult because in small scale it is difficult to get details and in large scale, any minor flaw shows noticeably.)
- Number and variety of design elements.
- Difficulty and variety of techniques attempted.
- Amount of time involved including research and material preparation.
WORKMANSHIP (1-5 points) Rank the success of the attempt on a scale of 1 to 5 based on the following:
- Ability of entry to serve intended function.
- Attention to details, neatness and finishing touches.
- Appropriate application of design(s).
- Effective use of materials and designs.
- Mastery of period style and technique.
- Techniques (e.g. lead work, soldering, edges)
- Form and finish (Does it hang or stand straight? Does it have gaps?, etc.)
CREATIVITY (1-6 points)Give score based on the following:
- 1:Project is NOT logical to context of period.
- 2:Project fits the context of periodness, but an adequate understanding of the item being created is missing OR was created from a kit with no changes.
- 3:Project fits period, was created from a kit, but has personal variations to ornamentation.
- 4:Project fits period, its origin was a kit, but has been greatly altered both in pattern and in ornamentation.
- 5:Project is mostly original application of period or SCA Known World designs OR is an exact reproduction of a period item.
- 6:Project is an original application of period or SCA Known World designs.
QUALITY (1-6 points) Evaluate the work as a whole.
NOTE: This category is subjective; however, the judge should take into account prior category scores, aesthetic appeal, presentation, intuitive response, and other such items not previously addressed.

- 2:Discussion of period styles and techniques as they relate to the entry. One source (secondary or tertiary).
- 3:Same as #2 plus rational for design elements, techniques, materials, tools, etc., plus complete examples. Explains any deviation from period norms.
- 4:Explains original research or experiment. Reasons for variations from period practice.
AUTHENTICITY (0-4 points)
- 0:Blatantly modern design (Drop suncatchers)
- 1:Generally period, with some obviously modern elements present (e.g. copper foil, dichroic glass) OR obvious mixture of elements from different cultures or periods (e.g. Byzantine elements on a Romanesque panel).

- 3:Using cathedral/antique glass with channel lead only. Period design with period materials or reasonable equivalents with no inconsistencies.
